TUNISIAN FULL STITCH (Tfs)

Worked over any number of stitches

The Tunisian full stitch involves pulling up loops between stitches. It is worked in two parts to keep the edges straight. As a stitch pattern, it creates a smooth fabric of vertical bars. As an individual stitch, it can be used as an increase method—more on that in the Shaping section.

FORWARD, ROW 1:Insert your hook in the space between the 1st and 2nd stitch, pushing the hook toward the back of the work. Yarn over and pull up a loop. Keep the loop on the hook. Insert the hook in the next space between stitches, yarn over, and pull up a loop. Keep the loop on the hook. Continue in this way, collecting loops, until you get to the space before the last stitch. Skip this space. Work the Lts.

RETURN:Work the standard return pass.

FORWARD, ROW 2:Skip the space between the 1st stitch and the 2nd stitch. Insert hook into the space between the 2nd and 3rd stitch, pushing the hook toward the back of the work. Yarn over and pull up a loop. Keep the loop on the hook. Continue in this way, collecting loops in the spaces between stitches, being sure to pull up a loop in the space before the last stitch. Work the Lts.

RETURN: Work the standard return pass. Repeat these two rows to form the stitch pattern.
