Product Description

When do I start telling my kids about sex? What do I say? Why is sex a big deal to God? How to I answer those awkward questions? And don’t get me started on puberty, dating and porn! Help! I am panicking!

Have you ever asked these questions? If yes, this book is for you. If you are a parent of a toddler, tween or teen, you will find the answers to all those questions right here.

The Birds, the Bees & the Bible is a step-by-step, practical guide on how to effectively parent everything about your child’s sexuality, from ages 0-18+, according to biblical truth.

Our children are more exposed to sex than ever before. What the world is teaching them about sex is not what God wants for them. Parents all over the world are greatly concerned and many struggle in this area of parenting. This book will show you where to start and why it is important to deliberately and intentionally parent your child’s sexuality. It will provide guidance in how to:

  • teach your child about sexual safety from a young age.
  • handle those uncomfortable questions and situations like a boss.
  • prepare them for puberty.
  • teach them that their sexuality is an amazing gift.

The Birds, the Bees & the Bible will give you valuable tools to teach your children to be strong and resilient, from a very young age, in a world that tries its best to deceive them. As they grow up, this book will also help them to understand the answers to questions such as:

  • Why is sex a big deal to God?
  • What are the consequences of my sexual choices?
  • What is a healthy relationship?
  • How can I be real in front of God when it comes to sex?

Discover how to parent sexuality in a fun and practical manner from birth through to adulthood – raising sexually wholesome kids who will have the tools to make wise sexual choices as they grow up!

Review

Language practitioners who have worked against deadlines know that there is a difference between editing a manuscript against time and actually reading with comprehension. With The Birds, the Bees & the Bible by Zalea Dold, I couldn't help but make time to actually READ it as well. Even with being a Christian in full-time ministry and having been a mom since 2016, I still learned SO MUCH. And not only have I learned a lot, but the knowledge that I gave gained is of immeasurable, eternal value. The truths explained in this book has had a massive, positive impact on our parenting, and it contributed to me being set free from past hurts and issues.Zalea really has an amazing gift to explain things in the plainest, most entertaining ways and to make it absolutely practical and applicable - which is a quintessential part of a book such as this! (Matthew Henry, "make it even plainer...".) I wish I could put this book in the hands of every parent, every person caring for children, every kids' church leader and every school. In fact, I recommend reading it to everyone, because of the impact it can have on every individual, whether still small or already grown up. PS. Zalea is funny, too - a bonus! I am convinced that you will enjoy this read and benefit from it greatly. Enjoy!  - Nicole Bouwer, Editor

Zalea writes with conviction and passion. This subject is clearly very close to her heart. She presents a clearly laid out guide for tackling many of the difficult issues around sexuality that parents are confronted with today. Her advice is accompanied by personal anecdotes and experiences and she is not afraid to share her own journey. She backs this with loads of reference material, her years of training and teaching in the field and a solid knowledge of the Scriptures.
This is not a clinical guide to what goes where or the names and functions of body parts (although this is covered in simple easy terms). It is a support tool for parents who are at a loss as to how to handle the flood of sexual references, changing norms, predation and peer pressure that children are exposed to. It encourages parents to stand firm in their faith and follow the laws of God given by Scripture and encourage their children to do the same.
Zalea preaches a message that may be regarded as old-fashioned and controversial, but it is done within the context of love, following the basic rule of
love God and love your neighbour as yourself. Sex should be reserved for marriage and anything other than traditional heterosexual relationships are not part of the plan. The traditional family unit is at the heart of this plan. This advice is explained and justified within the construct of God's plan for us, as given in the Bible. Part of this plan is that sex was created for our pleasure and enjoyment and as such we should not feel shame or guilt when we experience it, but only within the safe boundaries of God's plan as we move to a deeper relationship with Him.
Zalea is acutely aware of the difficulties in achieving the ideal plan and that we (herself included) are not perfect and modern life is messy and broken, relationships come in many forms, people are struggling with identity, self-restraint and self-worth. Her message is that with God's plan we have a way to lead our children through all of the mess to grow into secure, fulfilled and confident adults.  -

I have been looking for a resource that I could partner with to help empower parents in raising sexually stable young adults. I found it with Zalea Dold's book, The Birds, the Bees & the Bible. I love the balance in which she empowers parents. I have found Christian recourses that partner with legalism and shame and I have found many that are too liberal and not grounded in righteousness, but Zalea has done a brilliant job of balancing the two. She gives great language for hard topics. I am a firm believer that we much teach and equip our children in the home. -
