Product Description

Mama Opossum awakens to count her 10 sleeping babies - but wait! Eleven? That can’t be right! A baby mouse has snuggled in with the joeys. She must be lost.

Young readers are invited to join the Opossum Family in their quest to find Baby Mouse’s family by comparing her features to the animals they meet. Does Baby Mouse have long ears like rabbits? Strong claws like moles? A flickering tongue like a snake?

Opossum to the Rescue is a Mom's Choice Award® Gold Recipient.

Each page is a new adventure as families and classes can discuss
similarities and differences between the different animals they see. Children can also seek and find a different tiny hidden creature on each page: beetles, ladybugs, snails, fish, etc.

Opossums to the Rescue stands on its own, but is also the sequel to Mama Opossum’s Misadventures, where Mama finds her missing babies with different nocturnal animals in the forest. In the end, when all of her babies are safely back home, she wakes up the next evening to discover Baby Mouse has joined her family.

Opossums to the Rescue is also available in French: Les opossums à la rescousse.

Opossum Opposites is the first book in the Awesome Opossum Stories series and is a book of nonfiction, all about the lives and habits of opossums. Opossum Opposites is available in English, French and Spanish.

Review

Reviewed By Philip Van Heusen for Readers' Favorite

"When most people think of opossums, they have negative thoughts: pests, giant rodents, and roadkill. Some think of food. On the other hand, some think opossums are cute and cuddly. Gina Gallois thinks opossums are to be loved. Her love for them shows through in Opossums to the Rescue. This super cute story is about a mama opossum and her ten babies as they go on an adventure to help a baby mouse find its family. When the mama opossum awakens in the evening, she notices eleven babies in her nest instead of ten. The eleventh baby is a mouse that had gotten separated from its family. The opossums trek through the woods on a quest to find the mouse family. On the way, they see all types of forest animals. Gina gives a distinctive description of each animal they find. Are they able to find the mouse family? What woodland creatures do they encounter? Read this delightful book to your children and let them find all the animals.

Gina Gallois has authored a great children's book in Opossums to the Rescue. She lives in Atlanta, where most people only think of opossums when they see them on the side of the road, hit by a car. Too many city-dwelling children know very little, if anything, about wildlife. Gina wants to change that and has created a book series centered around the mama opossum. Many of the animals in this book can actually be found in cities. Use this book to instill in your children a love for nature. Teach them about ecosystems and how animals survive in different areas. Children need to develop a passion for all animals and nature to know how vital conservationism is. This is a fantastic book to read with and to your child while teaching them how remarkable nature is."
