Mommy and Me - How I Came to Be: A Mommy & Child Family Story

A sweet and loving story for children about the Mommy & Child family structure, where a woman chooses to have a child on her own. Told by the main character - a young boy around 6 years old - the messages are age-appropriate and positive, delivered in a simple, straightforward fashion, as told from one child to another.

Without needing to get into the details of anatomy and avoiding imprecise terminology and metaphors that may confuse children, the book introduces the concept of a donor with sensitivity and appreciation.

Honoring how “every story is unique and special about how a baby came to be,” children will learn:

• that a woman can make a baby with the help of a (sperm) donor;
• how much the main character’s mommy wanted and loves him and how there are so many others who love him, too;
• that there are many different types of family structures and that what is important is the love they have in common; and,
• a simple way to respond to the question, “Do you have a daddy?”
