  • DATE - When did your voyage start?
  • DEPARTURE - Specify the location of your starting point. This can be a place name, complete with postal code, state, country, or geographic coordinates.
  • TIME - When did you arrive at your destination?
  • ARRIVAL - Specify the location of your arrival. This can be a place name, complete with postal code, state, country, or geographic coordinates. If the arrival was not on the same day as the departure, leave blank lines to log intermediate waypoints.

On the right page, you indicate:

  • WEATHER - Describe the sea state and wind force using the Beaufort scale. Optionally, mention the direction of the prevailing wind.
  • DISTANCE - Record the Direct Course Track (DCT) and the actual distance covered according to the ship's log(LOG).
  • UNDERWAY, DAY/NGT - Mark the underway daytime and nighttime hours. Daytime is the period from 30 minutes before sunrise to 30 minutes after sunset.
  • ENGINE(s) hours - How long were the engines running?
  • REMARKS - Use this space for a brief commentary about the transition.
  • TOTAL - Besides weekly totals for mileage and hours, it's MANDATORY to record your position or rank on the vessel.
