Sample Position: Side-Lying Position

This is a fantastic position to master so you can get some rest while breastfeeding.

Step-by-step instructions:

1. Lie on your side with your baby facing you, lying on his side.

2. Tuck your bottom arm back behind your head, to create some extra space around your breast for Baby’s head.

3. Aim your nipple for his nose, and tuck him in close to you, with your top hand pressed along his back to help him latch on.

4. Once he’s latched, you can place a rolled-up blanket or pillow behind him to provide gentle support and keep him from rolling away from your breast while feeding.
