Joy Is Contagious... Cancer Isn't: 12 Women Share How Faith Shaped Their Breast Cancer Journey

Almost everyone I know dreams of writing a book. In many cases, they have the entire story written in their head but simply haven't taken the time to write it down. I guess I like to do things backwards.

Honestly, I never had the desire to write a book...blog here and there...yes...but write a book? No. But you know what they say, God doesn't call the equipped, He equips the called. So when what I believe was the Holy Spirit suggested I should assemble a book of women's breast cancer stories, how could I say, "No."? It certainly helped that 12 of us contributed to this book, so it wasn't all on my shoulders.

I'm beyond grateful that the women I approached all wanted to be a part of this project. Many of them told me that they hadn't written their stories before and that finally doing so was therapeutic for them. That warmed my heart, as did reading their stories. I finally had to invest in some waterproof mascara because I found myself crying every time I sat down to read and edit!  Don't worry, they're not sad. But they are incredibly beautiful.

The Holy Spirit gently whispered into my heart, “The joy of the Lord is your strength.” The words came out of seemingly nowhere, but it was a message the Lord knew I’d need to prepare for the cancer diagnosis that was waiting up ahead. I’d soon discover, as have the other eleven breast cancer warriors in this book, that through Christ, hope and joy can abound, permeating even our darkest of days.
