What makes Indian splendor Teas special

Indian splendor teas are special in so many ways.

The collection has high grade teas from all the major tea growing regions of India, and also some very special Indian splendor blends where we have not shied away from putting together handpicked teas of different leaf types and even from different regions, in select proportions, to bring out a combination of the exclusive character of each, in some exquisite, exhilarating and wholesome malty brews.

Hence, a unique spectrum of regal teas, representing the rich diversity of teas from India, each one with its own distinct bouquet of liquor, aroma, taste and strength, to suit every palette, mood and occasion.

More over, all Indian splendor teas are without any additives, whatsoever, and are packaged in truly world class packaging with a traditional ethos, which, along with the creatively matched sub brand names and pack colors to flow with the character of each tea, offer not just fine tea, but also a little essence of India packaged with love and care.

How did we come up with the idea for this product

The story of Indian splendor begins, ironically, with our Indo Kazakh joint venture, operating a tea blending and packaging factory, where over 75% of the entire work force consists of women, set up in the ecologically pristine outskirts of Almaty city, alongside the Alatau range of the majestic Tien Shan mountains.

As few would know, at the time of its independence, Kazakhstan had the highest per capita consumption of Premium Indian teas, in the world. Ireland and the United Kingdom would take second and third place, respectively.

We soon discovered that, not only in this exclusive market for Premium teas but also internationally, there was no prominent Indian tea brand in the Super Premium segment, offering a wide spectrum of the finest Indian origin teas. They were mostly from either the UK, Sri Lanka or elsewhere, and mostly promoting other origin teas.

So it came quite naturally to the joint venture partners, and particularly so after a discussion with the Chairman of the Tea Board of India, to develop an Indian brand with a collection of Indian teas of the highest Indian and international standards, to compete with the very best in the super premium category, worldwide.

• What has been the best part of the experience

All the team work and the creative aspects. First, the creation and selection of the Brand name Indian splendor, to represent the very best from India. Then, working with our team of some of the finest tea tasters and master blenders of the tea world in deciding the range of teas to be covered, their selection and creation of the exact tea blends to match the essence of the Brand name, and be appealing to discerning palettes, internationally.

One had to create a wide spectrum of the premium richness and splendor of good Indian teas, whilst ensuring that each one was unique and distinct in itself. Then, to create and select the sub brand names and the pack colors to match in spirit as close as possible, the character of each of these 8 fine teas, along with a little essence of a part of India.

And then, of course the Logo and the basic packet designs, along with their adaptations to the array of Classic, and then the Handicraft packaging's, all of which were themselves designed and created with elan and a traditional ethos.

The Indian splendor Classic Collection was launched at an India Food Expo in Almaty, by the Ambassador of India.

In 2015 Indian splendor exhibited at the World Tea Expo for Premium Teas, in Long Beach, California.

The Collection received an overwhelming response from over 300 tea aficionado's and members of a host of Tea Associations, who actually tasted the entire collection of teas. With a view to reaching out to all world markets, optimally, the joint venture extended itself back to the source and, in 2017, also began operations from Kolkata and New Delhi, India. From New Delhi, another packaging line - the Handicraft Collection, was added to the original Classic Collection.

Today, the Indian splendor collection of teas can be delivered worldwide, economically, from Almaty, Kolkata and New Delhi.

Indian splendor is now a leader in the Super Premium category in Almaty city, where it is pitted against all the top International brands, and is extending itself well beyond even into the neighboring Russian hinterland. Back home in India too, where it has been launched only recently, it is doing well at Duty Free Shops, Five Star Hotel Boutiques and other select and bespoke retail outlets, where it has been introduced up till now.

And finally, it's the feeling that this is just the beginning !
