Product Description

Jimmy Blanco was one of the longest living survivors of the world's deadliest brain cancer and he defied the odds without traditional medicine. In 1995, he was diagnosed with a glioblastoma multiforme grade IV and given less than four months to live. From day one he rejected chemotherapy and radiation and the doctor's death sentence for him. He self-treated with natural medicine, radically altered his diet, practiced visualization and other mental focus techniques, and had a healthy faith in God.

He fought eight incredible years against the tumor that doesn't quit. Jimmy began writing a book about his journey but sadly did not finish it. Fifteen years after his death, his widow, Elizabeth, found the unfinished book he'd been writing and gave it to their daughter, Jamie. Now as an adult and award-winning journalist, Jamie knew what she had to do-complete her father's work. She has investigated the biggest factors that contributed to her father's miraculous remission and done a deep dive into the latest brain cancer research, both the great and the lacking.

This multigenerational memoir spans more than twenty years and tells the story of heartache, miracles, the power of nature and faith, and the bonds of love that disease and death cannot break.

About the Author

A son of hard-working Cuban immigrants, Jimmy Blanco grew up on the mean streets of Newark, New Jersey, in the 1960s and '70s. He served in the army and navy before moving to Miami where he met his beautiful wife, Elizabeth. Jimmy became a respiratory therapist and was well-known and respected in South Florida medical circles. When he got his terminal diagnosis, he felt his purpose in life had been revealed to him. He dedicated the rest of his life to proving his doctors wrong and to bringing hope to hopeless causes like himself. Jimmy's daughter, Jamie, is an award-winning radio news producer residing in the Boston area. Jamie spent several years working to realize her father's dream of publishing his book of hope for cancer patients. Jamie enjoys nerd culture, hosts an iHeartRadio podcast called The Hub on Hollywood, and is now a frequent background actor in film and television.
