Candied Bacon

Kick’d Up Bacon Candy

Makes 10 servings

Prepare the EGG to cook indirect at 375°F. Place the EGGspander in the EGG and a drip pan underneath the top grate. Place the bacon on the top rack of the EGGspander, right over the drip pan. After 18 to 20 minutes, flip the bacon and continue cooking until slightly brown.

Meanwhile, in a medium bowl, whisk together the maple syrup, brown sugar, black pepper, and cayenne pepper. Once the bacon is flipped, brush it with the maple syrup–brown sugar mixture and cook for another 5 minutes. Flip the bacon again and brush it with the mixture. Continue to cook for another 10 to 12 minutes, until golden brown, lacquered, and crispy.

Remove the bacon from the EGG immediately and place on butcher paper to completely cool to room temperature.

Ingredients:

  • 10 slices thick-cut bacon
  • 1 cup maple syrup
  • 1 tablespoon light brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • ¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper
