Review

Praise for the You Are (Not) Small series:

You Are (Not) Small:

Winner of the 2015 Theodor Seuss Geisel Award

American Library Association Notable Children’s Book

Parents’ Choice Award, Silver Honor

“What some parents may use as a lesson in relativity others will embrace as an encouragement to good-humored humility.” Wall Street Journal

“A funny book with a good-hearted lesson.” School Library Journal

“This playful take on perspective details a confrontation between two bears…Husband-and-wife team Kang and Weyant nail the concept and provide humor along the way…An entertaining read-aloud, and the dialogue between the two bears authentically captures child logic.” The Bulletin of the Center for Children’s Books

That’s (Not) Mine:

A Cooperative Children’s Book Center Choices selection

“A vibrant addition to any bookshelf.” USA Today

“With its clever use of reverse psychology, That’s (Not) Mine provides the perfect foundation for a discussion on sharing.” School Library Journal

“Kang’s stripped-down dialogue and Weyant’s exuberant cartoons tap into the core of their characters’ emotions in a story that highlights the foolishness of fighting when there’s fun to be had.” Publishers Weekly

I Am (Not) Scared:

A Cooperative Children’s Book Center Choices selection

“An entertaining read-aloud and read-alone for emerging readers…A deft foray into facing fears and overcoming them—told with both understanding and humor.” Kirkus Reviews

“The ride is turbulent and frightening as expected, but it’s also exhilarating, and all three readily agree to do it again. Kang’s succinct text sticks to story basics…allowing Weyant’s ink-and-watercolor illustrations to add context and nuance to the tale.” Booklist

“The book’s endearing lesson is that if you are going to be scared—and yes, at times we are going to—it is best to be scared together. As far as nighttime books go, this is a keeper. For the child who can conjure up a litany of reasons to be too scared to go to sleep, I Am (Not) Scared could be a sweet comfort.” The Star-Ledger
