Perhaps the most important thing you can learn is how significant the first three years of life are when it comes to laying the groundwork for baby’s health now and in the future. Nutrition is often considered the single greatest environmental influence during infancy. It can have long-term effects on health, intelligence, ability and predisposition to disease.

PEAR PORRIDGE

PEAR PORRIDGE

Wholesome and delicious, this pear porridge is sure to impress any little Goldilocks.

  1. Put the pear in a saucepan with 625 ml (21½ fl oz/ 2½ cups) of water and bring to the boil. Reduce the heat and simmer for 10 minutes or until pear is soft.
  2. Add the oats and cook for 5 minutes or until the porridge thickens. Stir in the cinnamon and LSA.
  3. Remove from the heat and set aside for at least 5 minutes to cool and thicken.
FOR BABY:

Purée to desired consistency and stir in a little yoghurt.

ALL GROWN UP:

Add yoghurt and a drizzle of honey.

SMART TIP:

Oats aid digestion and contain beta-glucans that boost the immune system.

  • 2 pears, peeled, cored and chopped
  • 100 g (3½ oz/1 cup) rolled oats (GF, if desired)
  • ¼ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon ground LSA meal (linseed, sun ower seeds, almond)
