When is it Time to Start Sleep Training?

Set up the Bedroom:

Keep it dark!

Melatonin is a hormone that helps your baby settle to sleep and stay asleep. Light disrupts melatonin. Making the room pitch black really helps a baby sleep better.

Keep it quiet!

It can be hard to avoid daytime noise and outside distractions. White noise, such as that provided by a fan or white noise machine, is a great tool to block that noise.

Keep it warm, but not hot!

Watch for signs of overheating: red cheeks, a hot chest, and sweating. Overheating increases the risk of SIDS.
